Retrying failed messages and recovering an endpoint
Required role and plan
- Role
- Developer or higher
- Plan
- All plans (recovery covers messages within your log retention: 7 days on Free, 30 on Starter, 90 on Pro and Business, and on a custom Enterprise contract the period in your contract, 365 days by default)
Automatic retries
When a delivery fails, it is retried automatically according to the endpoint’s retry settings. By default, up to 8 attempts including the first, with the last retry after about 28 hours. Change the count and interval under Retries on the endpoint’s Settings tab (Endpoints). Retries do not count toward the monthly limit.
If failures continue for 5 days, the endpoint is disabled automatically. A disabled endpoint cannot receive retries, so fix the receiver and select Resume before resending.
Retry one message
- Open the message in Messages.
- Select Retry now in the attempts section.
If the endpoint is disabled, resume it from Open endpoint. Messages to a deleted endpoint cannot be retried.
Recover all failed messages for an endpoint
- Open the endpoint and select Recover.
- Under Messages from, choose Past hour, Past 24 hours, Past 7 days or Custom date and time.
- Select Resend.
- It resends messages created after that time whose delivery to this endpoint ended as Failed, with the same webhook-id.
- It cannot run while the endpoint is paused or disabled. Select Resume in the dialog first.
- Progress is shown at the top of the endpoint page (Recovering: n / m). Pausing or disabling the endpoint stops the recovery.
- Messages from the time the endpoint was disabled are not included.
